The Buddhadharma is notable in that it is not merely a religious tradition. Rather it is a system that brings peace and happiness in both this and future lives. By practicing the Dharma, the mind becomes happy. If the mind is happy, the body is happy. Moreover, Buddhism is a religious tradition that is consistent with rational reasoning. Drikung Namgyal Ling will uphold, maintain, and propagate the Dharma in general, and especially the teachings of the Drikung Kagyu tradition:
- Drikung Namgyal Ling was established to aid in helping clear away practitioner’s difficulties in listening, contemplation, and meditation. To practice in the West, a Dharma center providing such opportunities is indispensable.
- For proper study and practice, qualified spiritual teachers are necessary and precious. Drikung Namgyal Ling undertakes to invite genuinely qualified spiritual teachers, so that practitioners have the opportunity to have contact with, and receive teachings from them. Such teachers must have an understanding of the Dharma, themselves having perfected listening, contemplation, and meditation each in succession, thus becoming a distinguished individual; and they must have experience in acting as a spiritual teacher.
