About Achi Practice: There are essentially two types of Buddhist meditation practice, Sutra and Tantra. Achi Chokyi Drolma Meditation Practice is a Tantric meditation practice.
Achi is one of the protectors of the Drikung Kagyu Lineage, but she protects all beings from harm. Those who practice her and recite her mantra are sure to be protected from obstacles and hindrances, especially to Dharma practice.
Achi practice we uses visualization and mantra to facilitate concentration. The practice lasts approximately an hour and a half, and consists of opening prayers for setting the motivation to benefit all others, the body of the practice using visualization and mantra, and finally the dedication prayers where we wish to benefit all sentient beings
The prayers, visualization, and dedication are read from a sadhana (traditional practice text). This particular practice was written by Jigten Sumgon, our lineage’s founder, and translated in to English by Khenchen Gyaltsen Rinpoche.
Beginners are welcome at this practice. For those starting out, the visualization is done a little differently and we are happy to go over that with you. Please feel free to come with questions. We will answer them as best we can. For those we can’t answer, we have many excellent teachers to which we can refer.
